Hayashi’s Texas Throwdown Tournament set for Sunday

For nearly 65 years El Paso’s own Hayashi’s Martial Arts Academy family has hosted dozens of tournaments, now they are partnering with Team Xtreme Wrestling for one of their biggest tournaments ever.

“It is difficult to tell at first glance, but amongst us walk the courageous, who have stepped onto the mats to taste the sheer essence of battle, the humbling lessons of defeat, and the showering of glory when victory is achieved,” officials with Hayashi’s Academy shared.

The end of year tournament will be held at the El Paso County Coliseum on Sunday, December 8th, 2019. The event will feature competitors ages 4 and up, participating in various divisions.

The tournament will include fighters from all over the United States and Mexico, competing in Judo, Gi and No-Gi Submission Grappling, and wrestling.

Our US military soldiers will have an opportunity to compete against one another in their Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCPs) in the Submission Grappling division. The daylong event will incorporate martial arts competitions, entertainment, vendors, and food.

Other attractions will include local martial arts retail stores and nutritional booths, as well as displays by sponsors.

“Many prolific fights have debuted at these tournaments and with a mounting interest in Mixed Martial Arts, they continue to attract talent from all over the world,” officials added. “We thank and invite the community to join Hayashi’s Dojo… to support all of you local clubs for an exciting display of athleticism and grappling skills.”
