Homer Helps Omaha Edge Chihuahuas 6-5

The El Paso Chihuahuas started their seven-game road trip with four runs in the top of the first inning Tuesday but lost their early lead and fell to the Omaha Storm Chasers 6-5.

Luis Perdomo allowed two runs in five innings in his first start since returning from the disabled list.

The Chihuahuas sent nine batters to the plate in the five-hit top of the first, the second time in as many games El Paso scored four or more runs in the first three innings. With the score tied 5-5 in the bottom of the eighth, Omaha’s Ryan O’Hearn hit a go-ahead home run, his seventh homer of the year.

Former San Diego Padres reliever Brandon Maurer pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his fourth save.

Brett Nicholas went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for El Paso. Nicholas has 45 RBIs this season, the second most in the Pacific Coast League and only one behind Fresno’s Kyle Tucker for the league lead.
