The board of the Horizon City Economic Development Corporation (EDC) announced Monday that Eddie Garcia has been selected as its new Executive Director.
“I’m thrilled to join the Horizon EDC team and help with business development projects that foster Horizon’s continued growth,” said Garcia. “Horizon EDC already has multiple funds available to help eligible companies with relocation, expansion and site development, as well as property acquisition and the financing of infrastructure projects – all of which provide tremendous opportunities for further growth.”
Before joining EDC, Garcia worked for the City of El Paso for over 19 years, where he held several positions in the Streets, Planning, and Economic and International Development departments. Most recently he was Assistant Director for the Department of Economic Development.
He is a certified planner through the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) and a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) through the International Economic Development Council.
“EDC is fortunate to have someone with Eddie’s experience and commitment to improving economic development in our region,” said EDC board chair Walter Miller. “His background working with the City of El Paso and his passion for the Borderplex’s growth will help ensure that Horizon EDC continues to succeed in attracting and helping business thrive…”
EDC was formed to help create jobs, stoke capital investment and boost quality of life in Horizon City. The nonprofit corporation is the city’s strongest financial tool for businesses to bring cutting-edge investment to the border’s multi-state, bi-national economy.
