Nicholas R. Tejeda, Group CEO of The Hospitals of Providence in El Paso
Nicholas R. Tejeda, Group CEO of The Hospitals of Providence in El Paso, has been appointed by The American Hospital Association (“AHA”) to its Board of Trustees.
“Given the unique challenges our nation is currently facing, it will be an honor to serve alongside such a distinguished group of leaders who are dedicated to advancing the role of hospital providers in our communities nationwide,” said Tejeda.
He is one of eight new appointees to the Board serving three-year terms beginning January 1, 2021. The Board of Trustees is the highest policymaking body of the AHA and manages its finances and priorities.
Tejeda has served as Group CEO at The Hospitals of Providence since 2018. An entity of Tenet Healthcare, The Hospital of Providence is an integrated healthcare system that consists of over 60 access points and 5,000 employees across the El Paso community.
“This appointment of Nico by the AHA is an important recognition of his deep impact in healthcare over the years and his operational leadership in El Paso and many other communities in the Tenet family,” said Ron Rittenmeyer, Executive Chairman and CEO of Tenet Healthcare.

Tejeda is a member of the AHA’s Institute for Diversity and Health Equity board and served as chair in 2018 and 2019. He is a member of the board of directors for the FEMAP Foundation, a bi-national charitable organization that addresses mutual economic needs and public health concerns on the El Paso/Mexico border, and the advisory board for the Department of Health Policy & Management at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Tejeda received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Wichita State University and his Master’s Degree in Health Services Administration from the University of Kansas Medical Center.
