Hospitals of Providence invite community to free Stroke Screening Event, Stroke Walk
As May is Stroke Awareness Month, The Hospitals of Providence wants to help El Pasoans take strides to prevent and know their risk of a stroke through education and awareness.
Hospital event organizers are encouraging the entire community to take advantage of the Free Stroke Screening event, taking place from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2021, at The Hospitals of Providence Specialty Campus.
On Sunday, May 2, 2021, at 8am, community members are invited to join organizers and other participants on social media at our Strides Against Stroke Virtual Walk. “Wear red and pick your favorite walking trail, park or neighborhood, and snap a photo and post it on social media to raise awareness,” organizers added.
Organizers share that 800,000 strokes are reported annually in the United States and 80 percent of strokes can be prevented through education and care.
Stroke screening will include blood pressure, glucose, and body mass index BMI screening. Fasting is encouraged for accurate results.
Event is by appointment only, and spots are limited to allow for social distancing. Participants can register via this link.
