Hotel Paso Del Norte: Share Your Memorable Photos With Us

Opening soon, Downtown’s beautiful Hotel Paso Del Norte will point the way to the future of El Paso’s hospitality, by giving guests a glimpse of its past.

The Hotel Paso Del Norte wants people from the El Paso area, former guests and visitors to be part of the hotel’s future and celebrating its past by submitting photos of historic events, receptions, parties and other happenings from the hotel’s 106-year history.

Selected photos will be a part of celebrating the hotel’s history and writing its future by becoming part of the Hotel Paso Del Norte’s newly updated and renovated décor.

People whose photos are selected and used for display in the hotel will win a one-night stay at the Hotel Paso Del Norte after it opens later this year.

Submissions may be made online at the Hotel Paso Del Norte’s website.

By submitting a photo, residents must certify that thay are the sole owner of the submission and any copyright contained therein; and that the Hotel Paso Del Norte has the right to use your submitted photo to display in any way they see fit.

The Hotel Paso del Norte’s original building was designed by architect Henry C. Trost and built by Zachary T. White.

When it opened in 1912, construction cost about $1 million. The hotel was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 and features a 25-foot-diameter stained glass dome.

Guests reported to have stayed at the hotel include U.S. Gen. John J. “Black Jack” Pershing, Mexican Gen. Álvaro Obregón Salido, famed aviator Amelia Earhart, and then-Vice President Richard Nixon.

Hotel Paso del Norte will be part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, which celebrates boutique hotels that are unique in their design and thoughtful in their spirit. Part of that commitment includes allowing them to keep their unique names.

Greenwood owns or manages other hotels in Marriott’s Autograph Collection including The Henry in Dearborn, Michigan and The Watermark in Baton Rouge, Louisana.
