Officials with Hueco Tanks State Park released their schedule of events for the month of November.
From full moon hikes to star gazing and rare plant tours, organizers will keep park visitors busy. For more information and reservations, residents can call (915) 857-1135
November 4th| 7:30 PM| Full Moon Hikes| Max Group Size Dependent on Hike
Come and explore Hueco Tanks with us in the moonlight. We will be offering four different types of tours that cater to the abilities of everyone. Hikes include family, easy, moderate, and strenuous.
Reservations are required and spots are limited to 10 people per moderate and strenuous hikes and 25 per family and easy hikes.
November 11th| 9:30 AM| Rare Plant Tour | Max Group of 10
Join us on a tour of the rare plant life located at Hueco Tanks SP&HS. See the Comal Snakewood, a member of the Buckthorn family only found at the Site, and learn fascinating facts about Native American uses local plants.

November 11th | 9 AM | Women’s Only Hike | Max Group of 25
Explore the Site with a female ranger or volunteer and learn more about best hiking practices in the Chihuahuan Desert. This tour is open to women with all levels of experience and offers breathtaking views of El Paso and the surrounding mountains.

November 12th| 10:00 AM | Junior Ranger Day: Yucca-The Desert’s Multi-Tool| No Visitor Maximum
Where do you go to get your clothes, shoes, bowls, paintbrushes, or shampoo? Where do you think Native American groups found these things prior to malls, hardware stores, or salons? Join a ranger in exploring the ways these groups used one simple plant, the Yucca, to survive and thrive in the desert! No reservations are required.
November 16th| 7:00 PM | Star Gazing | Max Group of 100
Join Hueco Tanks State Park & Historic Site staff for a night of stargazing, stories, and planetary viewing. Visitors are welcome to bring their own binoculars and telescopes, but it is not required.
Groups will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Gates close promptly at 7 pm, no exceptions.
November 18th| 7:30 AM | Birding Tour | Max group of 10
Join our birding guides on a quest to see rare birds at the Site and possibly check some “lifers” off your list. Reservations are required.
November 24th| 11 AM |Turkey Trot Hikes| Max Group Size Dependent on Hike
Trot on out to Hueco Tanks and work off some of that turkey with our Turkey Trot hikes. We will be offering four different types of hikes that cater to the abilities of everyone. Hikes include family, easy, moderate, and strenuous.
