Ice Miners Set to Take on rival Texas Tech at County Coliseum

After Texas A&M put an end to UTEP’s 15-game win streak in a split decision last weekend, the Miners hockey team is seeking to get back on track this weekend.

The league-leading Miners will host the Texas Tech Red Raiders in a Texas Collegiate Hockey Conference two-game home series showdown at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, and 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, at the El Paso County Coliseum Events Center (4100 E. Paisano.)

The powerhouse Miners are a stellar 14-2 and lead the South Division, while Texas Tech is 5-9 and competes in the North Division.

This season, UTEP has been paced by standout sophomore center Lukas Znosko with 53 points and sophomore goalie Alek Lazarski with 20 wins. Forward Austin Murray leads the Red Raiders with 12 goals and 14 assists.

Tickets are $5 for general admission, Black Section and Grey Section; $10 for Orange Section; $15 for Glass Section; $20 for Balcony; and free for military with ID.

Tickets are available at the El Paso County Coliseum Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 800-745-3000 and online.
