The El Paso Skeet and Trap Club will host the Inaugural West Texas Sporting Clays Tournament this weekend.
Sponsored by the Ruhmann Law Firm, this is the first-ever registered sporting clays course set up in El Paso County. The Sporting Clays Tournament will encompass several different clay target games.
4h Club Manager Tess Clark says the event will be fun for those participating and spectating.
“Sporting Clays is a fun, clay pigeon, moving target course with random clays set at ten different stations. Competitors aim to break these targets from various angles testing their skills and abilities,” Clark shares. “For those unfamiliar with sporting clays, or clay target sports in general; we invite and encourage residents to come out to learn the sport, receive a free safety training and orientation, and learn about all the different opportunities at hand.”
The competition is open to the public, and all are encouraged to attend. Awards will be presented to those with the highest scores.
“Our club is a range that is overseen by the members for the members,” Clark adds. “We house the Wounded Warriors Project Skeet and Trap Team and the Desert Valley Youth 4-H Club; and we often give back to the community through national conservation projects and additional fundraisers…our Club is family friendly, and we offer several membership programs to those interested.”
Scholarships will be provided for the top 3 youth athletes who are currently registered in any 4-H program.
