Inhumans vs X-men will fight
It appears Marvel has some big things planned starting in December. Inhumans and Terrigen Mist have been popping up in their stories a lot lately. We got Ms. Marvel when Kamala Khan was exposed to Terrigen Mist. The TV show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has introduced the audience to Inhumans. Even the comic books have been featuring the Inhumans much more than before. Are we seeing a shift to Marvel using Inhumans rather than mutants? When they aren’t able to use something in the Marvel Cinematic Universe it has a tendency to disappear from comic book pages as well (Fantastic Four, Wolverine, use of the word mutants). It may seem petty at first glance, but they probably don’t want to help further someone else’s movie property on their dime. It does force them to be creative with their characters and stories. This could be a good thing if they don’t get silly trying to do it.
The Inhumans and the X-Men have been at odds as of late. The tension between the two groups is scheduled to explode on the Marvel Comics pages in December. The Inhumans and mutants will go to war against each other in Marvel’s “Inhumans vs. X-Men” event comic series. When the dust has settled from this battle the “Resurrexion” event comic series will follow. The Inhuman and Mutant factions are led by the Inhuman royal family and the X-Men respectively. While the two have joined forces in the past, it seems that the two-week survival period of the mutants forces them into trying to stop the Inhumans from advancing their plans.
Beast, a former X-Men who defected to the Inhumans, discovers that the mutant race only has two weeks left to live. This is a result of the Terrigen Mist. The Mist is beneficial to Inhumans, but is toxic to mutants. Inhumans wish to spread the mist to awaken more of their kind, while mutants would be left to die if that were to happen. This spells doom for the mutants as there is no cure for them being exposed to the mist.
The Inhumans are a race of super-powered individuals. They were first introduced in Fantastic Four #45. Inhumans have their powers awoken through being exposed to the Terrigen Mist. While the mist gives powers to people who are already Inhuman, the substance has no effect on normal humans. The only problem is the mist leaves mutants poisoned and sterile.
“Inhumans vs. X-Men” is scheduled to hit the shelves starting in December. We will see if the mutants all die, if the Inhumans take over Marvel as their main characters, or maybe the mutants will be brought back as Inhumans as part of Resurrexion.
