Instructor at Valle Verde ECHS Honored by Special Olympics

Valle Verde Early College High School Dual Credit English Instructor Mrs. Carol Herrera was named the 2016 Volunteer of the Year by the Special Olympics Texas Division in early May.

Mrs. Herrera participates in the Area Sports Management Team and helped to coordinate the Opening Ceremony for the spring games.

In addition, she helped to develop a community service program with Valle Verde’s National Honor Society which connects honor students with Special Olympic volunteer opportunities.

Their most recent community service project helped to facilitate the Annual Cycling Competition and El Paso Community College.
