Isotopes Nuke Chihuahuas 7 to 2
Albuquerque lefty Kyle Freeland pitched six shutout innings in the Isotopes’ 7-2 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas Friday night. Chihuahuas’ starter Walker Lockett allowed six earned runs and 10 hits in 5.1 innings, four days after beating Albuquerque at Isotopes Park.
The Isotopes rallied for four runs on five hits in the top of the fifth and added two more in the sixth on Dustin Garneau’s two-run home run. Jose Rondon’s two-run double in the seventh supplied El Paso’s only scoring of the night. Rondon went 3-for-4 in the loss for the Chihuahuas.
Franchy Cordero went 0-for-2 with two walks in his Triple-A debut for El Paso Friday, his 22nd birthday. Lefties Daniel Moskos and Jose Torres both threw scoreless relief outings for El Paso.
The Chihuahuas are now 7-6 versus the Isotopes this season.
