Isotopes Nuke Chihuahuas 8-1 in Albuquerque

Albuquerque held El Paso to three hits Thursday in the Isotopes’ 8-1 win over the Chihuahuas at Isotopes Park. It was the second time this season Albuquerque pitching limited El Paso to three hits or less.

San Diego Padres pitcher Jered Weaver allowed three runs on five hits in a three-inning injury rehab start. Weaver, the three-time Major League All-Star, is currently on San Diego’s DL with a hip injury.

El Paso’s lone run came on a solo home run by Nick Schulz, who has two Triple-A homers this year, with both coming in Albuquerque.

Former Padres minor leaguer Barry Enright held El Paso to one run in seven innings Thursday. All eight Albuquerque runs came with two outs. Rafael Ortega walked twice but did not get a hit, ending his hitting streak at 16 games, the longest by a Chihuahua this season.
