The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that everyone older than 6 months receive a flu shot every year.
As flu season is here, and with COVID-19 Pandemic continuing to impact the city and the world, the Kelly Center for Hunger Relief, in partnership with the City of El Paso, will provide free drive-thru flu shots on Monday
Officials share that getting vaccinated for the flu is more important than ever as the community’s hospitals continue to reach dangerous capacities.
“COVID-19 and flu symptoms are often similar and getting a flu vaccine is a good way to be proactive about staying healthy,” said Warren Goodell, Executive Director of the Kelly Center for Hunger Relief. “The flu shot is more important than ever this year as we try to bring down the unprecedented numbers of patients in hospitals during the pandemic.”
The free drive-thru flu shots will be given on Monday, December 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Appointments or insurance are not required to receive a free flu shot.
Officials do warn if residents are feeling sick or are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, they will need to get tested and wait for results before taking the flu shot.
