Local TV Stations KFOX14, CBS4 announce Drone Camera for News Coverage

Local Sinclair TV stations KFOX14 and CBS4 announced the inclusion of a new tool for their news coverage: a piloted drone.

According to a Tuesday morning news release, the KFOX14 News “Skycam” and the CBS4 “Eye in the Sky” is the newest addition to their news gathering arsenals.   The 2-man, piloted drone is the first of its kind in the area, giving a new perspective to news, weather, and traffic coverage.

“We are always in search of the next big way to provide the best coverage to the community,” said KFOX14 and CBS4 News Director Shauna Ziegler.  “This is a huge step to giving viewers access to video where we might have had limitations before.  We look forward to offering this new view of news from the sky.”

Kevin Hayes, General Manager of KFOX14 and CBS4, mentions, “This is not a small undertaking to have a piloted drone.  This takes a skilled team to safely and responsibly bring this type of news gathering to our viewers.  We are very proud of the dedication this team has put into the process so that we can provide this added layer of coverage to the community.”

The KFOX14 News “Skycam” can be seen on the KFOX14 Morning News from 5-9am, KFOX14 News at Five, and KFOX14 News at Nine.

CBS4 “Eye in the Sky” can be seen on CBS4 Daybreak from 5-7am, CBS4 at 12, CBS4 at 5:30, and CBS4 at 10.
