Parents, if your kids have the acting bug, or just want to find out what it takes to write, act or design for a movie or play, Kids-N-Co has several treats for you.
El Paso KIDS-N-CO.’s Education Program starts October 8 and continues weekly through December 10. Registration is Oct. 8 & 15. Tuition is $200, with discounts available for siblings.
Class ends with an afternoon performance for the Acting Classes and the Screenwriting & Acting for Film will show their final film.
► Acting for Tykes (ages 5-7) – Saturdays, Oct. 8-Dec. 10, 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
This class introduces youngsters to theater. Through theater games and play-acting, children learn the fundamentals of acting. Children learn to be comfortable on the stage.
► Acting from Beginning to Advanced (ages 8-15) – Saturdays, Oct. 8-Dec. 10, 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.Students will be assigned to groups according to skill level after the initial class.
- Beginning/Intermediate Acting uses acting & improvisation exercises to hone skills. The class will be assigned a play, and they will work on memorization, stage direction and acting during the rehearsal process.
- Advanced Acting class brings a higher understanding of acting through script & character analysis. Students will learn audition techniques, and work on monologues, suitable to include in an audition repertoire.
► Screenwriting & Acting for Film (ages 10-16) – Saturdays, Oct. 8-Dec. 10, 11:30 a.m. – 1p.m.
Border Theater Artistic Director and film actor Austin Savage will lead a this class in writing an original short film, which will then be rehearsed and shot during the class. All aspects of film will be covered including auditioning, acting, storyboarding, shot lists, camera technique, etc.
► Costume and Fashion Design (ages 8 through adult) – Individually Scheduled Costumer Sharon Moore teaches the basics of designing and sewing anything you might wear on or off the stage. Students will gain hands-on experience in a series of 10, 90-minute personalized classes with times arranged to suit your schedule. Girls, Boys and Grownups are encouraged to take this class!
