El Pasoans are invited to watch art created live with this week’s Art Coffee #5 and Art en Vivo. This session is set for Thursday, March 10th from 6-9 p.m. at Proper Printshop (800 Montana.) Art en Vivo is a live screen-printing project hosted by Proper Print Shop.
Proper will be printing a photograph by Miguel Juárez titled: “Kiss en El Chuco,” a photograph of Ace Frehley KISS Band member from the “Destroyer Tour” taken August 15, 1976, at the El Paso County Coliseum (the band’s first concert in El Paso). Prints will be on sale for $20 each.
DJs Ray Mendoza and Eric Ibarra will play electronic and house music from 7-9 p.m.
Every Thursday night, they invite a different artist/designer to hand printed an edition of prints. They ask that artists pay for the paper and the artwork preparation (if necessary). Then, they sell the prints at the show, and split the profits.
Any leftover prints are divided equally between Proper and the artist/designer. Art en Vivo is also a place for artists/designers to display and sell their work and keep 100% of those profits. During the event, the public is invited participate in the live printing.
