Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare announced Wednesday the acquisition of Highlands Rehabilitation Hospital, which is now Las Palmas Del Sol Rehabilitation Hospital East.
“As El Paso continues to grow, we are committed to providing resources that address patients’ needs and provide the highest quality of healthcare services closer to home,” David Shimp, chief executive officer at Del Sol Medical Center, said. “This acquisition will expand rehab services in our community and provide patients on the eastside with a comfortable environment and enhanced patient privacy, all led by a skilled, comprehensive rehabilitation team.”
This facility, located at 1395 George Dieter Dr., will provide inpatient and outpatient rehab services to patients who need rehabilitation for continued recovery. The renovated rehabilitation hospital is expected to be open to patients on Dec. 1, 2021.
The facility will expand to 41 beds—all private suites—which will provide more space for patients during their recovery.
Las Palmas Del Sol Rehabilitation Hospital East will have the combined expertise of two skilled teams and be home to the only two physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) specialists practicing in inpatient rehab in El Paso. An internal medicine physician will also follow patients’ recovery to maximize medical oversight and optimize care.
Las Palmas Del Sol Rehabilitation Hospital East, which will serve as an extension of Del Sol Medical Center, will continue to offer a full continuum of rehabilitation services, from acute therapy to inpatient and outpatient rehab.
Officials add that these programs are designed to help patients of all ages, with all forms of injuries and medical conditions, obtain their highest possible functional level..
