Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare among America’s 100 Best Hospitals for orthopedic, spine surgery

On Monday, officials with Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare, which includes Las Palmas Medical Center and Del Sol Medical Center, announce that they had achieved a spot in the country’s 100 Best Hospitals for orthopedic and spine surgery in 2019.

“Las Palmas Medical Center is proud to be recognized by Healthgrades as one of the nation’s top hospitals for orthopedic and spine surgery,” Don Karl, chief executive officer of Las Palmas Medical Center, said.

“Achieving this award emphasizes the hospital’s commitment to excellence and our staff’s devotion to delivering outstanding patient care.”

The annual recognition by Healthgrades, an online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals, evaluates performance at almost 4,500 hospitals nationwide for 32 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions.

“Del Sol Medical Center strives to deliver the highest quality of care to our patients,” David Shimp, chief executive officer of Del Sol Medical Center, said. “We are honored to be recognized as one of the top 100 hospitals in the nation in these specialties.”

The Healthgrades 2019 Report to the Nation, released this month, demonstrates differences in clinical performances between hospitals nationally, regionally and at the local level, as well as the impact such variation has on health outcomes.

Healthgrades recognizes a hospital’s quality achievements for cohort-specific performance, specialty area performance, and overall clinical quality.

For its analysis, Healthgrades evaluated approximately 45 million Medicare inpatient records for almost 4,500 short-term acute care hospitals nationwide to assess hospital performance in those common conditions and procedures.

To help consumers understand, compare and evaluate hospital performance, Healthgrades analyzed patient outcome data for all patients provided by 15 individual states from 2015 to 2017.
