John Nogowski hit a two-run, tiebreaking home run in the bottom of the eighth inning Saturday night in the Memphis Redbirds’ 5-3 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas at AutoZone Park.
Ty France went 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double and three RBIs and is now 11 for his last 14 dating back to Thursday in Nashville. Bryan Mitchell had his best start as a Chihuahua Saturday, allowing only one run in five innings in a no-decision.
El Paso starters have allowed only two runs in 12 innings in the series against the Redbirds.
St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina was 0-for-1 with an RBI squeeze bunt in his second MLB injury rehab game for Memphis. Saturday’s two hour and 23 minute game was the shortest nine-inning game of the year for the Chihuahuas.
The Chihuahuas and Redbirds have split the first two games of the series.
