The Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) met recently in Dublin, Ohio and announced the election results for the Americas Regional Council (ARC), the Asia Pacific Regional Council (APRC) and the Europe, Middle Eastern and Africa Regional Council (EMEARC).
Lorely Ambriz, Librarian from El Paso Community College (EPCC), was elected as one of the ARC delegates to Global Council and will take her position on July 1, 2018.
“EPCC will have an active voice involving more library decision making,” Lorely Ambriz, Head Librarian of the Northeast Campus said. “Also, I can bring my networking skills with border states in the U.S., with Mexico, Central America, Caribbean and Latin America to bring their voices to the OCLC Global Council.”
Among her multiple accomplishments, Ambriz was named Librarian of the Year by the Border Regional Library Associations (BRLA) in 2017.
The 48 elected Delegates represent 20 different countries and a variety of library types. These delegates work on the member libraries’ behalf to keep OCLC leadership informed on member needs and interests.
Each year, delegates travel to the OCLC headquarters in Dublin, Ohio to share what they are hearing and learning from members.
