Video+Gallery: Replays Ready – 2017 Socorro ISD Marchfest Prelims & Finals

Thanks to our partnership with HSZone.tv and Socorro ISD, we here at El Paso Herald-Post are proud to bring you the replays of our streaming coverage of the 2017 SISD Marchfest.

“This program is like the halftime that doesn’t end, paired with day-long qualifying similar to what you’d see at Daytona or Indy,” said Chris Babcock, long-time play-by-play announcer.

“These kids, the directors, the parents and the pit crews have been working since mid-summer for this event, with their eyes on the prize of a state championship, as a 7-year-band dad I felt the time was right to give them the spotlight they deserve.”

Babcock was joined by Lorraine Kubala, retired band director and band blogger, for the special all day event.

The finals are above, while you can check out your favorite band during the prelims via the player below.

    • When we’re done with the live stream, I’ll be uploading the prelims later tonight.

      • That would be great! My son is marching in the Andress band and I wasn’t able to make the competition and after the BS that band went through last year, Mr Contreras, the band director has helped them with the opportunity to understand the glory of competition! Go Eagles!!

  10. Thank you so much for the live coverage of the Bandfest. I got to watch my Grandson Brent Hogue in the Horizon Band. The opportunity to actually see the live performance from Ohio was very exciting. I could almost believe I was in the bleachers. The bands were awesome. Are you covering the State competition? Thank you again.

    • You are very welcome, being former band parents ourselves, we wanted to donate our time and our platform to showcase these kids, and inform the larger community about their competition. Unfortunately, we will not be covering the next stages as they cannot be streamed due to UIL regulations. However, the finals will be streamed directly by UIL themselves, on their website.
