Steellake, a band located in our very own Sun City, has advanced to the national finals of the Road To Wacken battle of the bands.
This event is held for unsigned Metal bands to duke it out on stage for the chance to perform with bands the likes of Iron Maiden and Megadeth at the Wacken Open Air in the small town of Wacken, Germany.
“We are looking forward to performing at the ‘Road to Wacken’ this year in San Diego” Said David Cardenas, Guitarist for the band. “We are very grateful for being able to have the opportunity to have made it to round 3 for national finals.”
“Steellake formed in 2019 by vocalist Lowas and guitarist Lorrie. Along the years, bassist Albert, guitarist David and drummer Gio joined Steellake. Our self-titled album debuted on December 17th, 2022.” Cardenas went on to convey his thanks to the community and fans. “We are really thankful for everyone that has been supporting us through this journey! We would not be here without their support.”
The national finals for the Road to Wacken will be held on May 13th in San Diego, California, and should Steellake win once more they will represent El Paso at the Wacken Open Air. Steellake will be performing at the Rockhouse Bar (9828 Montana Ave, El Paso, TX 79925) on April 14th to raise funds for their trip.
