The Crash – the official name for a group of rhinos – is also the name of the Rhino’s official booster club and a membership drive is underway for the 2017-18 hockey season.
The booster club was established as a means of helping the El Paso hockey team achieve their goals, while maintaining the focus on the players themselves.
According to team officials, the plan is to support the Rhino players, which in turn, helps improve their experience while they are here in El Paso and away from home.
Via the team’s website, officials stated, “A strong booster club will help with recruiting and retention of players…the Crash will provide regular gatherings for the players, raise money, and have opportunities to meet the Rhinos…simultaneously, members will show out-of-town players just how great El Paso is.”
The Crash is a booster club with a $40.00 annual membership for individuals and a $60 membership fee for families. All members will receive opportunities to interact with the players, 100 Rhino Rewards points, and “backstage” access to specific events.
Last season, the Crash hosted a cookie swap, a video game night at Gamers Dunegon, a movie night at Alamo Drafthouse and other events for the team and members of the Crash.
Members of the Crash also welcomed new Rhinos this season with a team barbecue in September.
Each year the Crash hopes to have your support while it:
- Increases awareness of the El Paso Rhinos within the community
- Provides regular events for the players
- Ensures that players have food before traveling and after home games
- Looks to the future of El Paso hockey as it supports younger Rhinos
