Mayor Dee Margo to participate in Trade and Diplomatic Mission to Mexico City
El Paso Mayor Dee Margo will travel to Mexico City, Mexico with Consul General of Mexico, Mauricio Ibarra, to participate in a business and diplomatic delegation from January 30, 2020 – February 1, 2020.
This mission supports the region’s goal of building a robust and sustainable binational economy, while fostering a strong relationship with the Mexican Government.
“This trade and diplomatic mission is pivotal to the continued success of our binational, bicultural region. Mexico is Texas’ and El Paso’s strongest trade partner, it only makes sense for us to build on that foundation,” said Mayor Margo. “I anticipate this will be the first of several trade and diplomatic missions to Mexico.”
Also participating in the mission to Mexico will be County Judge Ricardo Samaniego, UTEP President Dr. Heather Wilson, Borderplex Alliance CEO Jon Barela and representatives of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.
“By working together with the Mexican Government on issues that affect both our nations, we can develop creative solutions that lead to the long-term success of our binational communities,” said Mayor Margo.
The delegation will meet with Foreign Affairs Secretary, Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon and Mexican Government Officials to discuss cross-border trade and investment, the signing of the United States-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement, education and workforce development, immigration and growing binational relations.
