Medical Center of the Americas Foundation holding open house for tech entrepreneurs

The Medical Center of the Americas Foundation (MCA) is set to host an open house this week, as they are looking for Innovators, Entrepreneurs, and Tech Startups who can benefit from MCA support to apply for the upcoming 2019-2020 MCA Innovation Center Program.

The MCA Innovation Center seeks to help founders, innovators, and entrepreneurs in developing existing research, prototypes, and ideas into commercial ventures, or taking products or services to the next level.

The 2019-2020 MCA Innovation Center Program includes a series of targeted bootcamps supplemented by office hours, expert panels, networking, opportunities, mentoring, a professional resource network, and connections to capital. All of which provide startup founders, innovators, and entrepreneurs a competitive edge to help build and scale a business or idea.

“One of the hardest parts of entrepreneurship is getting the ball rolling,” MCA Director of Accelerator Programs Nancy Lowery says, “Attending the MCA Innovation Center’s Open House event is the first step in that process. The MCA works with innovators at all stages to provide skills and an important network that leads to success.”

The Economic Development Administration (EDA) recently announced the MCA as one of the winners of a $300,000 EDA Regional Innovation Strategies (RIS) Seed Fund Support grant competition, which will help launch the MCA Innovation Fund to help increase startup success in the El Paso region.

This announcement comes seven months after the MCA was awarded the $750,000 EDA i6 Challenge Grant award that is helping expand the program reach and impact, and launch high-tech startups across the County of El Paso.

To learn more about the MCA, the Innovation Center Program, and how they seek to foster and grow the entrepreneurship ecosystem in our region, register to attend the MCA Innovation Center Open House: Happy Hour event listed on their website. While the event is open to the public, registration is required.

Applications for the 2019-2020 MCA Innovation Center Program bootcamps are now open and available online. The deadline to apply for the first round of bootcamps, Introduction to Market Research, is September 5th.
