The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso Paul L. Foster School of Medicine class of 2016 learned the results of the National Residency Match Program (NRMP) during a celebration Friday, March 18.
A total of 73 senior medical students at TTUHSC El Paso were successful in matching to excellent graduate medical education positions.
Three students have been accepted to programs in El Paso and 47% will remain in Texas. Overall, 52% matched to primary care residency programs, including family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, medicine/pediatrics and obstetrics-gynecology.
Two students will begin their service to our country through the military match.
The NRMP oversees a computerized process that links choices of graduating medical students with preferences of residency program directors.
