Men’s Golf Headed to Lone Star Invitational
The UTEP men’s golf team will travel to San Antonio early next week to compete in the Lone Star Invitational. The Miners will tee it up on Monday and Tuesday mornings with 7:30 a.m. (MT) shotgun starts each day. 36 holes will be played Monday and 18 on Tuesday.
The event will be held at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club and will play as a 7,247 yard par 72.
UTEP will send Frederik Dreier, Nicklas Pihl, Andreas Sorenson, Charlie Corner, Ben Getman and Jose Romero to the links. Dreier paces the squad with a 71.5 scoring average and four top-10 finishes. He is followed by Corner (72.4 avg.), Sorenson (73.2 avg.), Pihl (74.1), Romero (74.7) and Getman (75.6).
At the 2015 Lone Star Invitational, the Miners finished in third place with an 14-under par 850. The 850 strokes totaled was the fifth-best team score in tournament history. Pihl is the only Miner returning from last year’s field and he finished tied for 51st at five-over par (76-74-71-221).
