Miner Volleyballers fall to No. 23 WKU
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The UTEP volleyball team (10-12, 3-6) fell to No. 23 WKU (24-1, 10-0) in three sets (13-25, 19-25, 17-25), 3-0, on Friday evening at Diddle Arena.
Serena Patterson and Kenidy Howard both recorded three blocks each for the match. Syenna Masaki produced a team-high 12 assists, and Kristen Fritsche was close behind with 11. Nine different Miners recorded a kill
The Lady Toppers came out strong against the Miners, opening action on an 11-3 run. They would never look back and claimed the first frame, 25-13.
However, the second set was a different story. The Orange and Blue stood toe-to-toe with WKU, forcing 11 ties until the score was tied at 14-14.
The Lady Toppers would end up taking the next four points and the set, 25-19, but UTEP showed they could hang with nationally ranked squad.
WKU defended its home court and defeated UTEP, 25-17, in the third frame to claim victory.
Next up, the Miners will play at Southern Miss on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 11 a.m. MT.
