Miners complete action at William H. Tucker Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE – UTEP’s Oskar Ambrosius climbed the leaderboard on the final day of the William H. Tucker Invitational to finish the event tied for ninth place individually in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Overall, the UTEP Men’s Golf squad finished the tournament 13th with scores of 298, 300 and 303 for a team total of 901 over the course of three rounds at UNM Championship Course in Albuquerque.

In the opening round on Friday morning, the Miners were led by Ambrosius, who shot par 72 to begin the tournament, while Greg Yellin followed after shooting 73 in round one. UTEP shot 288 (+10) as a team in the first round on Friday morning.

During Friday afternoon’s second round, the Miners shot 300 (+12) as a foursome to end the opening tied for 14th. Individually, UTEP was once again led by Ambrosius in the afternoon round, who shot a 2-under-par 70 to finish the day -2 through two rounds.

The third and final round saw Ambrosius (-2) shoot even par to finish the three-round event with a score of 214 (72-70-72).

Eduardo Gonzalez finished the weekend at 12-over with a score of 228, while Yellin posted a three-round total of 228 (73-75-80). Jacob Presutti finish the third round with a score total of 232 (78-75-79). Jeffrey Lebeau rounded out the weekend for the Miners after shooting 240 (78-83-79) over three rounds of golf.

UTEP returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 6 when the Miners travel to compete in the North Texas Maridoe Invitational at Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton, Texas.
