HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ar. – The UTEP Women’s Golf squad closed out the first round of play at the Little Rock Golf Classic on Sunday tied for sixth place at the Diamante Country Club in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.
In the opening round of action, the Miners were led by Valeria Mendizabal, who finished the day in a tie for third place individually with five other golfers after shooting 2-under-par 71 on Sunday.
The UTEP Miners shot 300 (+12) during the first 18 holes to finish the first day in a five-way tie for sixth place as a team. The second round is set for Monday morning in Hot Springs Village.
UTEP’s Abbie Anghelescu wrapped up the first day at 1-over-par and tied for 11th individually after she shot 73, while Audrey Haddad finished one shot behind her fellow teammate with a score of 74 (+2) on Sunday.
Shannon O’Dwyer ended the first round by shooting 10-over-par 82 on the day, while Sophie Delfosse shot 83 (+11) to close out the opening day of action at the Little Rock Golf Classic.
UTEP will tee off beginning at 8:20 a.m. MT on Monday morning, while the Miners will be paired with Utah Valley and UMKC in the second round.
