Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii- The UTEP men’s golf team shot their lowest round (292) of the week on day three of the John Burns Intercollegiate on the way to a 12th-place showing. The Miners ended the tournament at 22-over par (301-293-292-886).
Texas took the team title at 20-under par (276-284-284-844).
Charlie Corner was the top finisher for the Miners with a one-over par 217 (74-71-72) to tie for 22nd. Corner’s last round featured an even par 72 with three birdies, 12 pars and three bogeys.
Frederik Dreier was one shot off of Corner’s pace with a two-over par 218 (71-72-75) to place tied for 26th. Andreas Sorenson made a move on Friday with a final round of three-under par (69). His 69 allowed him to jump 30 spots on his way to tying for 49th at eight-over par (78-77-69-222).
Ben Getman finished the tournament at 11-over par (78-73-76-227) to place 65th and Evan Macias (84-81-76-241) placed 96th.
Settavut Paradee, who was competing as an individual, placed tied for 82nd at 16-over par (76-81-75-232).
The Miners will tee it up again February 28th-March 1st at the National Invitational Tournament in Tucson, Ariz.
