The UTEP men’s golf team will travel to luscious island of Kauai in Hawaii for the John A. Burns Intercollegiate to play 54 holes at the Wailua Golf Course on Feb. 17-19 (Wednesday–Friday).
UTEP will be facing off against 15 other teams including a plethora of ranked teams. #6 Texas, #20 Washington, #21 California, #22 Virginia and #30 UNLV will all be in attendance.
“This will be one of the toughest fields we go up against this year,” head coach Scott Lieberwirth said. “It’s going to give our younger players a chance to compete against some of the nations best.”
The Miners will send a young, but talented group to Hawaii. Frederik Dreier will be the only upperclassmen and the other five (Charlie Corner, Settavut Paradee, Evan Macias, Ben Getman and Andreas Sorenson) are all underclassmen. Dreier and Corner are the only players to have played in this tournament.
Dreier leads the team in scoring average per round (71.7) and is followed by Corner (72.6), Sorenson (72.9), Getman (75.7), Macias (75.4) and Paradee (76.8).
The Wailua Golf Course will play as a 6,991 yard par 72. The Miners will play 18 holes each day with an 11:30 a.m. (MT)shotgun start each day. Live results will be available at golfstatresults.com
