DALLAS – Miners Sean Bailey and Kimisha Chambers received Conference USA Track Athlete of the Week honors, the league announced on Tuesday.
Bailey earned C-USA Track Male Athlete of the Week honors after storming out of the blocks at the Desert Heat Classic. The junior posted a first-place finish in the 400m with a season-best time of 45.54.
The sprinter moved into the top spot in the conference and rates sixth nationally. The Spanish Town, Jamaica, product now rates eighth all-time in the Miners’ record book.
Chambers was named the C-USA Track Female Athlete of the Week, after posting a stellar showing at the Desert Heat Classic on Saturday. The transfer clocked in a season-best time of 57.82 in the 400m hurdles.
Her time ranks 14th in the country and first in the league. Chambers also checks in at second all-time in program history in the event.
The Miners will return to the track on May 9-12 in Charlotte, N.C. for the 2019 C-USA Outdoor Championships.
