Miners sign Junior Transfer Stallings

UTEP football signed junior college transfer Tanner Stallings from Hutchinson Community College on Wednesday.

“Tanner fits the mold of the type of player we are trying to bring into our program,” head coach Sean Kugler said. “He has a 3.85 GPA and will be an engineering student. On the field he is physical and relentless. He will be with us for the spring, which will benefit him greatly.”

Stallings played center for the Blue Dragons for two seasons and garnered 2015 KJCCC Football All-Conference second team honors. The offensive linemen was named NJCAA Offensive Player of the Week and Jayhawk Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors for leading the Blue Dragons to a 49-14 victory over Garden City.

The Blue Dragons finished the season ranked fourth in NJCAA in rushing yards (2,693) and fifth in rushing touchdowns (32). The rushing offense totaled seven 200-plus yard games, including three 300-plus yard games during the season.
