ABOUT RICE

The Owls have started C-USA play with five straight victories on the way to leading the league. Over that stretch, Rice has outscored the opposition 12-2. Prior to the season, the program was selected as the favorites in the C-USA Preseason Coaches’ Poll with seven first-place votes. Delaney Schultz, the league’s Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, leads the way with five goals and an assist. Grace Collins has been dangerous as well, compiling four goals to pair with seven assists. In addition to playing all but 19 minutes as the keeper this season, Bella Killgore has netted four goals, including three on penalty kicks. She regularly serves as the free kick specialist for the Owls. In net, Killgore has a 1.38 goals against average, four shutouts and 65 saves.

ABOUT MIDDLE TENNESSEE

After being picked seventh in the C-USA Preseason Coaches’ Poll, the Blue Raiders have yet to get on the win column in league play through five contests and have not come out on top in a game since a 3-1 handling of Austin Peay on Sept. 4 in Murfreesboro. Kirstine Lykke has been the most dynamic scoring threat for the squad to this point, tallying four goals. Eleanor Gough has been the primary distributor with four assists while also scoring twice. Emma Pettersen has a trio of goals. Hannah Suder has played all but 16 minutes in goal this season and has a 2.11 goals against average with 49 saves.

SERIES HISTORY

Rice leads the all-time series 14-7-2, including an 8-2 mark in Houston. Middle Tennessee has posted a 5-2 record against UTEP in program history and is 3-0 in El Paso.

SCOTT RANKINGS

Goalkeeper Mariah Scott leads C-USA with 66 saves and is fourth with four shutouts.

Tessa Carlin, Cayman Tamez and Mariah Scott have each started all 14 games for the Miners this season.

MINERS TIE PROGRAM RECORD FOR CONFERENCE DRAWS

With three ties in C-USA play this season, UTEP has equaled the 2018 team for the most in conference action in program history. The 2011, 2014 and 2018 teams each had four draws over the course of their full seasons. The increase in ties comes following the rule change in the NCAA this season that eliminated overtime for regular season games.

C-USA CHAMPIONSHIP INFORMATION

The 2022 C-USA Women’s Soccer Championship will take place Nov. 2-6 at Charlotte. The top eight teams in the final league standings will participate in the event.
