ALBUQUERQUE – Oskar Ambrosius led UTEP on the opening day of the William H. Tucker Invitational with the junior finishing tied for 14th in a field of nearly 100 golfers in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
As a team, the UTEP Men’s Golf squad finished day one at New Mexico’s annual invitational tied for 14th overall on the first day at UNM Championship Course in Albuquerque.
In the opening round, the Miners were led by Ambrosius, who shot par with a score of 72 on Friday morning, while Greg Yellin was right behind him after shooting 73 to begin the day. UTEP shot 288 (+10) as a team in the first round on Friday morning.
The second round began on Friday afternoon with the Miners shooting 300 (+12) as a unit to end the day tied for 14th. Individually, UTEP was once again led by Ambrosius, who shot a 2-under-par 70 to finish the day -2 through two rounds.
Yellin finished the day at 4-over with a score of 148, while Jacob Presutti finish the first two rounds with a score total of 153 (+9). Eduardo Gonzalez and Jeffrey Lebeau each closed out the opening day of the tournament with score totals of 155 (+11) and 161 (+17), respectively.
