Austin – UTEP track’s Lucia Mokrasova notched a 10th place finish in the heptathlon, scoring 5,260 points at the 91st Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Thursday.
Mokrasova started the day by scoring 651 points in the long jump, leaping out to a mark of 5.33m (17-6). She tossed the javelin out to 36.28m (120-2) adding 596 points. The senior clocked 2:30.65 in the 800m, garnering 685 points to close out the day.
The Slovakia native ranks 13th in the nation and needs to finish within the top-24 in the country to qualify to the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Junior Lilian Koech had herself a day, notching a silver medal finish in the 800m invitational that included collegiate and professional athletes. She finished with a time of 2:07.53, just behind professional athlete Ana-Rosa Gomez-Velazquez (2:07.31) but was the first collegiate athlete crossing the finish line. Koech’s time ranks seventh in the nation.
“Lilian Koech was the only bright spot of the day,” head coach Mika Laaksonen said. “[She was] the best collegian in the event.”
In the 400m hurdles, junior Dreshane Rolle clocked a personal best 1:00.00 flat to win her heat. Her time ranks first in Conference USA.
Linda Cheruiyot finished 15th overall in the 1,500m with a time of 4:50.03. Following her performance was Cornelius Kapel in the men’s 1,500m, crossing the finish line at 4:07.15 to finish 11th in his heat.
Antony Kosgei closed out the night with a ninth-place finish in the 1,500m with a time of 14:34.42.

Friday’s action will be streamed live on ESPN3 and the Longhorn Network beginning at 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and will return at 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
