Mug shot of off-duty Temple PD officer released; Arrested Tuesday by EPPD

Two days after he was arrested by El  Paso Police, the mug shot of off-duty Temple (Tx) Police Officer Kenneth Lee Sheka was released by officials.

Sheka was arrested Tuesday, September 8th, after allegedly firing a gun inside the Chase Suites Hotel, located at 6791 Montana. Sheka was attending the Combined Law Enforcement Association of Texas (C.L.E.A.T.) convention, when he allegedly became inappropriate with a female server working the hospitality area.

According to officials, Sheka was talking to the female server and the conversation “became inappropriate, when he (Sheka) began making comments of a sexual nature.” Investigators add that Sheka allegedly touched the server inappropriately as she walked by.

Witnesses tell police that, “the female told him not to do that again and continued to walk away, escorted by another male.” That when police say when Sheka pulled out a pistol and fired one round into a nearby wall.  He was quickly subdued and disarmed by other people in the area.

El Paso Police were called to the scene,  which led to the investigation and charging of Sheka with one count of Deadly Conduct/Discharge of Firearm.

Sheka was arrested and taken to the El Paso County Detention Facility with a bond set at $2,500.00.
