Primavera en el Otoño/Springtime in the Fall mural by Eugenia “AO” Carmon | Photo courtesy Outlet Shoppes of El Paso
A mural series featuring the beauty and culture of the Paso de Norte region continues this weekend with area muralist Christin Apodaca.
There are currently two completed murals by local artists Paola Martinez and Eugenia “AO” Carmona that shoppers can enjoy during their visit.
Apodaca’s work, inspired by nature and the relationship to our surroundings, is composed of black and white line drawings that weave native plants and the human existence into surreal, dream-like compositions.
The use of black markers as her primary tool allows Apodaca to create values and textures with the inclusion of a simple cross-hatch design to highlight negative space around the artwork.
Over the years, she has created more than fifteen murals featured throughout the El Paso community and has worked with UTEP, NMSU, Tecate, West Elm plus a multitude of area businesses.
Apodaca attended the University of Texas at El Paso and University of New Mexico in Albuquerque where she studied oil painting before moving back to El Paso after graduating.
