Museum of History Exhibit on ’66 NCAA Texas Western Championship Basketball Team

The El Paso Museum of History invites the public to view the 50 Years of Loyalty: A Texas Western Fan Remembers the 1966 NCAA Basketball Championship exhibit that showcases items collected over the years by El Pasoan Joe Gomez.

The display includes original programs and other memorabilia as well as commemorative items from anniversary celebrations of this achievement.

Mr. Gomez attended Texas Western College, now the University of Texas at El Paso, and was friends with the players and coaching staff. Over the years, he continued to stay in touch with Coach Don Haskins and the members of the 1966 team, taking part in reunions and continuing to support the basketball program at UTEP.

The items will be on display in the first floor lobby of the museum through July.
