Museum of History to Premiere El Paso Woman’s Club Documentary

As part of its ongoing exhibition recognizing the El Paso Woman’s Club, the El Paso Museum of History invites the public to attend the premiere of a new TV documentary about the Club’s history titled “The Woman’s Club of El Paso, A Vital Force Since 1894” at 6 p.m.on Thursday, December 1.

The free, half-hour premiere will include a producer’s talk by Jackson Polk, along with the film’s narrator, Melissa Sargent, and Mary Railey, Club President. DVDs will be available for purchase in the Museum’s gift shop.

“This film showcases the good works the El Paso Woman’s Club has done in this community since it was founded,” said Interim Director of the El Paso Museum of History Ben Fyffe. “We are honored to include this group of outstanding women in the Museum’s Wall of Giants.”

The Museum took this opportunity to expand the Wall of Giants, a rotating exhibition recognizing the contributions that organizations and individuals have made to El Paso, to a full-scale exhibition. This display will include furnishings and memorabilia on loan from the Women’s Club, historic clothing and other artifacts from the museum’s collections, as well as a section featuring women’s history in El Paso.

The exhibition is free and is open to the public through April 22, 2017. More information is available on the El Paso Museum of History website.
