San Diego Sockers vs El Paso Coyotes, MASL indoor soccer

New-look El Paso Coyotes take on Sonora at County Coliseum Friday

It’s a new year and a new start for the El Paso Coyotes arena soccer team.

Under the helm of a new coach and the addition of five new players, the Coyotes return home to take on league-leader Soles de Sonora in a Major Arena Soccer League game at 7:35 p.m. this Friday, January 6, at the El Paso County Coliseum (4100 E. Paisano.)

In appreciation of the team’s loyal fans, for this game, all general admission tickets will only cost $12 and kids get in free with each adult ticket purchased.

The winless Coyotes are hoping for a fresh start under new head coach Jose Luis Treviño, who replaced Hector Eugui this week. Treviño joins the team after a stint with the Soles as the assistant coach and sports director with years of experience in the MASL.

Along with Treviño, five strong newcomers join the Coyotes, including El Paso midfielder Mario “Rana” Arrieta, who played professionally in Mexico for the Juárez Indios and Tampico Madera.

Also new to the roster are goalkeeper Hector Casillas, forward Robert García, defender Antonio García and midfielder Bronil Koochoie, all veterans of the MASL, which represents the highest level of professional arena soccer in the world.

After a tough three-game road trip, the Coyotes, now 0-9 in the Southwest Division, are still chasing that elusive first victory in their inaugural season in the MASL. The Soles are 7-1 and lead the Southwest Division.

The home game also will feature Max the Coyote mascot, the Coyote Girls, music, games, giveaways and more. The concessions stands will be open.

Tickets are available at the El Paso County Coliseum Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 800-745-3000 and online.
