Putnam Elementary School planted a new tree to honor the memory of Robert White, a physical-education teacher and county constable who died last year during an off-duty altercation.
This is the third tree that is planted in his memory after the two previous trees dried up and died.
“We are determined to keep the memory of Coach White alive,” said Principal Cynthia Sanchez. “To help us do that, we have this beautiful tree that we know will grow into its splendor and beauty.”
The tree was donated to the school by Sierra Vista Growers and was planted by CSR Landscaping.
“These two businesses have been great partners in making sure that our students remember Coach White,” Sanchez said. “We express to them our most sincere appreciation.”
