NMSU Announces dates for 2016 Homecoming Events, Game vs. UL-Lafayette

New Mexico State University will celebrate Homecoming 2016 with a week of events steeped in Aggie tradition beginning Sept. 26 and culminating in the Homecoming game Saturday, Oct. 1, against the Ragin’ Cajuns of the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.

Activities will include reunions for the classes of 1956 and 1966, along with the Homecoming game day parade, the Celebration of Traditions event honoring Aggie military veterans, a bonfire and pep rally, the Golden Aggies luncheon and a Sunday brunch for recent graduates.

The Alumni Association will also hold its annual dinner Friday, Sept. 30, to honor its 2016 Distinguished Alumni and James F. Cole Memorial Award for Service recipients. The Alumni Association is now accepting nominations for these awards.

The Distinguished Alumni awards, established in 1956, recognize living NMSU alumni who have achieved national or international distinction through their accomplishments and leadership. To be considered, nominees must be a graduate of NMSU and available to attend Homecoming events. In addition to achieving distinction in their business or professional lives, nominees must have performed specific, meritorious service that reflects the quality and advancement of NMSU.

The James F. Cole Memorial Award for Service, established in 1966, recognizes those who have shown progressive support to NMSU, dedicated involvement with NMSU, impactful civic and humanitarian service at NMSU and within the communities around them, and notable professional service.
