NMSU Regents Adopt Resolution in Support of Modifying Tuition for Students from Mexico

During their regular meeting, the New Mexico State University Board of Regents adopted a resolution in support of examining a modified tuition for students from Mexico, in accordance with New Mexico Statute 21-22g-3.

The move is designed to make NMSU’s tuition more competitive and to encourage more students from Mexico to attend NMSU.

The Regents’ Above and Beyond Award was presented to Tina Patton, a graphic designer in the NMSU Facilities and Services Sign Shop. Those who nominated Patton said that she “goes the extra mile on a daily basis and always has a positive attitude that inspires others.”

Most recently, Patton showed her dedication to NMSU in honoring Lori Paulson, who passed away earlier today. It was important to honor Paulson as soon as possible, as she had a rare form of pancreatic cancer. The naming opportunity came quickly and Patton understood how much the signage would mean to Paulson and the recognition event, along with the signage, was a big hit. Patton shows dedication to NMSU and does everything she can to show the university in its best light.

In other business, the Board of Regents approved a Master of Engineering Graduate Degree, to be offered in the NMSU College of Engineering with additional business courses in the NMSU College of Business. The board also approved the financial report for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2015. The audit results were presented by KPMG, an audit, tax and advisory services company.

The Board of Regents also elected new officers during the meeting. Debra Hicks serve as the new chair of the board. Mike Cheney will be the board’s new vice chair and Jerean Hutchinson will serve as secretary.
