North Loop Elementary holds 11th annual Literacy Parade
North Loop Elementary School students, staff and parents participated in the 11th Annual Literacy Parade on Tuesday.
Officials with the school said the yearly parade gets students excited about returning to school and reading. The school, first opened in 1936, boasts a student population of nearly 450 students and met state accountability standards this year.
Students carried banners supporting this year’s theme “Read About Music,” while guests and the public enjoyed the entire show. After the parade, the Bel Air drumline led the students into the gym for a pep rally.
Special guests included Associate Superintendent Brenda Chacon, the Bel Air drumline, Chico from the El Paso Chihuahuas, as well as the school’s partners in education Texas Kid’s Dental, Peter Piper Pizza, Johny’s Restaurant and Academy Sports.
