Office of Emergency Management encourages residents to register for Emergency Alerts
Tuesday afternoon, officials with the City and County of El Paso again invited residents to register to receive alerts from the El Paso’s Emergency Alert System (EAS).
Officials share that the El Paso EAS is an important component for the City and County to notify citizens of severe weather warnings, evacuation notices, public health alerts, and community-wide emergencies.
“Communication is key during an emergency. Knowing what’s happening and how to prepare for it is essential,” said Assistant Fire Chief and Emergency Management Coordinator Jorge Rodriguez. “That is why we are inviting our community to visit our website, learn more about preparedness and sign up for the alert system.”
Residents can register online to receive emergency alerts from the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) through email, text messages and voice calls. The website also offers useful preparedness information for different kinds of emergency situations and natural disasters.
The importance of preparing oneself for disasters is universal. Emergencies can happen anywhere – at home or at work – and at any time. Everyone must take action to prepare themselves and their families for emergencies..
