El Paso Chihuahuas

Omaha Outlasts Chihuahuas 3-2; Dickerson’s Hit Streak now at 27 Games

The El Paso Chihuahuas had baserunners in both the eighth and ninth innings but lost a close game to the Omaha Storm Chasers 3-2 Sunday night at Werner Park. Omaha starter John Lannan pitched 7.2 innings and allowed only two runs.

The Chihuahuas struck right away, scoring a run in the first inning on Alex Dickerson’s RBI double, which stretched his hitting streak to 27 games.

The top three hitters in El Paso’s order – Manuel Margot, Carlos Asuaje and Dickerson had two hits each.

With the score tied 1-1 in the top of the third, Margot tripled and scored on Asuaje’s RBI groundout to put El Paso ahead by one. Omaha brought home two runs against Fabio Castillo in the fifth and held off multiple Chihuahuas’ rally attempts late to end El Paso’s four-game winning streak.

Chihuahuas’ starter Colin Rea pitched one inning and allowed one run before being replaced by Castillo, who lasted seven innings in relief.
