Thursday morning, officials with the Opportunity Center for the Homeless and Endeavors announced a partnership to deliver joint rapid re-housing services for qualifying individuals through their El Paso Collaborative Rapid Re-Housing Program.
Their shared goal is to provide adequate housing options to individuals experiencing homelessness in the El Paso area that have been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic,
“El Paso Collaborative Rapid Re-Housing primary goals and objectives are to successfully exit people out of homelessness during the COVID-19 pandemic by reducing the length of time program participants experience homelessness, exit individuals and families to permanent housing, and limit re-occurrence to homelessness within three months of program entry,” officials shared via a news release.
Throughout the CARES Act, both entities have received almost one million dollars to help individuals in our community secure an apartment and work hand-in-hand with a caseworker to attain self- sufficiency.
“This initiative will allow program participants to quickly exit homelessness, return to permanent housing, focus on pursuing personal goals, and reach stabilization by receiving temporary rental assistance,” officials added.
Among other benefits of receiving rapid re-rehousing services are:
- Individuals will receive up to six months of rental assistance and intensive case management until December 30, 2020.
- The provision of support of wraparound services and community resources through rapid re-housing will lead to enhanced permanent housing success rates for program participants and an overall reduction in returns to homelessness.
